4-2. Specifying layer units

Layers that show numeric values, such as Above Ground Biomass (AGB), are much easier to understand when the units are displayed in the legend and in data-value pop-ups. This exercise adds units to the AGB layer and checks how they appear in the Explorer.

1. Open GE Preview for your configuration and display the Above Ground Biomass layer.

2. Look at the legend. Notice that the value labels do not include any units.

3. Click on a few features on the map using Data values to inspect the pixel values. Notice that the values also lack units.

4. Select Back to Config Builder to return to the configuration.

5. Open the Above Ground Biomass layer card and find the Units field.

6. Enter the units as:

   tonnes / ha
   

7. Save the layer card.

8. Open GE Preview again and display the Above Ground Biomass layer.

9. Check the legend: the unit label now shows tonnes / ha alongside the values.

10. Click on a feature with Data values again. The values now include the units, making it clear what the numbers represent.
